Kilkenny farm for €12k/ ac

-

LAND in Kilkenny can be scarce and certainly good arable land for sale near the Marble City is a rare thing. It is expected there will be lots of interest in a 90ac parcel of ground located at Ennisnag between Stoneyford and Kilkenny. The tillage and grass farm comes with a guide price of €10,000 to €12,000/ ac.

Laid out in one large block, the property is located 13km from Kilkenny and 3km from Stoneyford.

The lands have frontage on to the Kilkenny/Stoneyford road and further access off the Ennisnag/Stoneyford road via a quiet cul-de-sac.

The farm was once a dairy holding but has been in tillage in recent years and the current layout has 70ac in tillage, 15ac in grass and 5ac in forestry.

The only buildings on the property include an old milking parlour and an old slatted unit.

Auctioneer Ed Donohoe expects huge interest in the farm: “This is a renowned area for its fertile vein of land. Given the prices land has made in this area, it is very reasonably guided at between €10,000 and €12,000/ ac,” he said.

The place will be sold at public auction at the Clubhouse Hotel, Kilkenny at 3pm on September 28.

CAHIR SALE

Kilkenny auctioneer Joseph Coogan had a pep in his step thanks to the successful sale of a Tipperary property that made over €15,000/ac.

A 5.5ac field located at Clonmore South near Cahir in the premier county attracted four bidders when brought to auction by the staunch black and amber supporter.

Located 5km from Cahir and 13km from Bansha, the property has 500m of road frontage on to the old Cork Dublin road and further frontage on to a narrow byroad.

According to the auctioneer, the field was brought to auction with a strictly agricultural value in mind.

At auction, proceedings opened when Mr Coogan accepted a bid of €50,000 and the price quickly reached €71,000. At this point the property was put on the market.

The hammer fell at €83,000 — when it sold to a solicitor believed to be acting for an adjoining farmer.
