Sale with a global reputation

-

THE INTRODUCTION of the Supreme Sale of Showjumpers in 2014 was certainly not before time, given the vast selection of such elite sales of sport horses across Europe. However, within three short years it has now become a firm favourite in the diaries of horse producers across the world.

Running alongside the Go For Gold Sale again this year, the initiative has been a huge success from the outset, with figures of €95,000 (Ard Ginger Pop) and €50,000 (Talks Cheap) among those amassed for horses the first year.

These were followed by a public auction record price of €1.4 million being paid for Dougie Douglas 12 months ago, in addition to €250,000 for the top prospect, Dekato.

This evening, Tuesday, sees a selection of 19 horses aged four and over and a further 10 three-year-olds go under the hammer in what is expected to be another exceptional dispersal at the Amber Springs Hotel in Gorey.

Prospective buyers will have had an opportunity to see horses being put through their paces at nearby Barnadown Stud ahead of the auction, and all will have received a full five-stage veterinary examination by the panel prior to the sale.

Headlining the catalogue this year is the hugely talented gelding Killossery Kaiden, winner of the gold medal at the FEI World Jumping Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken in September. Jointly owned by John Kearney and Hugh Martin of KM Sport Horses, the six-year-old is bred in the purple as a son of Lux Z, with the dam Killossery Kruisette having jumped to international level for Ireland under former Army rider David O’Brien.

Also catalogued for sale is the RDS and Balmoral champion, the six-year-old CHS Krooze, and the four-year-old J’Adore Flamenco, by Billy Twomey’s former Nations Cup ride Je T’aime Flamenco.
