Meath tillage ground for €8,500 an acre

AN 88.5AC farm located at Robinstown, Navan, Co Meath, has been on the market for some time and selling agent John Harrington is hoping an early appearance on the 2017 market might benefit the sale.

The holding can be bought by private treaty as an entire or in lots with a guide price of €750,000 or €8,500/ac. This represents a drop from a previous guide of €10,000/ac.

Located five miles from both Navan and Trim, the farm comes with a derelict farmhouse and a total of 288m of frontage onto two roads. According to the auctioneer, the place is a renowned tillage holding and is currently under stubble.

The land is fenced by good natural hedgerow and watered by a stream that runs through it.

Mr Harrington is surprised that the place hasn’t sold heretofore, describing it as one of the best farms of land in the area. It has residential potential thanks to the presence of a derelict farmhouse and hay shed on the property, which should prove advantageous in applying for planning permission.

The farm may be sold as an entire or in two lots, with lot one comprising the derelict house and hay shed on c 61ac along with 143m of road frontage, while lot two comprises 27ac with 145m of frontage.

Mr Harrington considers the farm to be very favourably priced at around €8,500/ac, given the quality of the land and its location.
