A READY to go west Cork dairy farm with modern state of the art milking facilities has come on the market with a guide price of €700,00.

Located at Teergay, Kilbarry the non-residential holding is 10k from Macroom, 20 minutes from Dunmanway and 40 minutes from Cork city.

The 80ac farm is made up of 50ac in grazing and 30ac in woodland. It is described by auctioneer Killian Lynch as a quality holding with extensive road frontage.

The land, which is level and fertile comprises c. 50 acres of top quality pasture that was all reseeded within the last five years and developed for dairying with paddock fencing and farm roadways throughout.

Mr Lynch says the land is “as level as a billiard table”.

The extensive range of modern farm buildings includes everything needed on the modern dairy farm.

Indeed this particular farm is ideal as a self-contained dairy out-farm with its new 16 unit Dairymaster Herringbone milking parlour installed in 2015. All the facilities are top of the range from the milking equipments to the slurry sprinkler system.

The main building housing the slatted units measures 76m x 18m and is divided into sections with 50 cubicles, 52 cubicles and 12 cubicles.

The space also includes calving pens, hydraulic scrapers and three underground interconnected tanks.

Dairymaster parlour

The milking parlour measuring 30m x 10m incorporates the Dairymaster parlour with automatic cluster removers and cluster flush, automatic feeders with a 10 tonne feed bin.

Underneath is a slatted tank with a sprinkler system piped directly to the fields.

The complex also includes a chemical room and a tank house with a 10,000 litre Packo tank with an ice builder and a two-stage plate cooler.

Mr Lynch says the current owner has invested a total of €250,000 in the dairy facilities, but has now decided to retire from farming.
