Views on Greenways schemes sought

-

FARMERS are being invited to give their views on the development of a new strategy for Greenways projects.

A new paper published by the Tourism and Transport Minister Shane Ross on the future of the cycle and walkways is expected to spark debate. The views of interested parties on some of the more “contentious issues” are being sought on the Department’s website to see the best way to tackle issues in the future.

In some areas, farmers have objected to Greenways passing through their lands. Mr Ross pointed out the “significant tourism benefits” that can arise.

Over €4.5m in funding was announced for the works from Maynooth to the Westmeath border and €1.6m for completing the Waterford Greenway.
