A steady trade saw Aberdeen Angus heifers from 380-420kg selling for up to €1.95/kg, with 356kg Charolais making €2.58/kg. Non quality-assured 700kg Friesian bullocks went for €1.60/kg. On the issue of farmers making it their business to be quality-assured, mart manager David White said: “A non quality-assured animal typically makes from €40-50/hd less. If the market says you take the laces out of your shoes, you take the laces out of your shoes”.
