THE CREAM OF CHAROLAIS TAKE CENTRE-STAGE IN TULLAMORE

-

A SELECTION of the cream of the Charolais breed will form the central theme of the Irish Charolais Cattle Society stand, located at Row 19, Block 2, Stand 418.

As well as the National Show Champions who won the prizes on the summer show circuit, there will be a showcase of top quality commercial Charolais cattle with up to 30 of the breed in total on view.

Following the outstanding success last year of the society initiative for charity, when they held a raffle for the pedigree Charolais heifer, Lisnagre Libby, kindly donated by Jim and Catherine Geoghean from Streamstown, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath in loving memory of their grandson, Conor Green.

Libby raised over €17,000, for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

This year there will be a raffle for a top class commercial Charolais heifer, with all proceeds going directly to the Irish Cancer Society.

The society yearbook which is bigger than ever, and packed with news on past and upcoming events within the Charolais breed will be launched at the Championships and representatives from the Irish Charolais Cattle Society including breeders, council members and staff will be available throughout the three days for advice and discussion on the breed.

Details will be available on the upcoming autumn shows and sales of pedigree Charolais cattle the first of which will be the ICCS Autumn show and sale in Tullamore Mart, on Saturday, November 4.

The society will hold their first ever Elite Heifer show and sale at Tullamore Mart on the following Saturday November 11, and the final show and sale of the year will be the Christmas Cracker on Decembeer 2.
