Big clearance at Carlow auction

A WIDE variety of good quality farm machinery and tools drew a large crowd to a clearance sale in Tullow, Co Carlow last week. Buyers from near and far travelled to view the 200 plus lots for sale on the instructions of three local farmers.

The lots included a 20ft Broughan trailer, a John Deere b582 round baler, two Kverneland four furrow ploughs, livestock trailers, mowers and feeding equipment. Tractors, jeeps and hedge cutters were also up for auction along with a selection of small tools.

Auctioneer Michael Doyle reported that prices were strong. He started the auction with the smaller tools and farm equipment and most items sold at or above reserve prices. The larger machinery items then drew several bidders, including some offers from absentee bidders through phone bidding and prior reserves.

It was Mr Doyle’s second home auction of the year and he plans to have another in early 2018.

Selected prices included: ÷20ft Broughan trailer - €12,000 ÷four furrow Kverneland reversible plough - €4,500 ÷McConnell PA 50 hedge cutter - €11,600 ÷ Ivor Williams 8 by 5 foot trailer with decks - €3,700 ÷5.5 Tonne Hitachi mini digger - €7,000 ÷mounted Hardi sprayer - €2,500. *One of the clean looking lots not sold included a New Holland 7840 tractor (pictured) with reserve of €11,500.
