Two-day ITBA Expo for thoroughbred fans under starter’s orders in January
DETAILS have just been announced for the ITBA Expo 2018 which will take place at the Goffs Complex on January 26-27 next.
Run by the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association, in partnership with Red Mills, the two-day event will bring together over 90 exhibitors to present and sell their products and services to thoroughbred enthusiasts, showcasing the latest advances in technology, machinery, veterinary science and equine nutrition.
With over 3,500 people expected to attend over the two days, the ITBA Expo ’18 will feature a range of educational and commercial presentations and workshops, with Day 1 focusing on careers and education and Day 2 on technology and innovation. An extensive event programme will be launched over the coming weeks.
Shane O’Dwyer, CEO, Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association, said: “The Irish breeding and racing industry has long been renowned globally for its excellence. ITBA EXPO ‘18 will enhance this reputation by showcasing the latest innovations in technology, veterinary medicine, equine nutrition, stallion selection, land management and machinery.
“We’re all aware of the challenges facing our industry but this Expo and particularly our forum “What if — A vision for 2028” will be about identifying the solutions and stimulating action. We’re looking forward to announcing our panel in the coming weeks.”
Meanwhile, the annual ITM Stallion Trail returns on January 12-13, with some 26 farms opening their doors around the country.
Now in its fourth year, it has proven to be hugely popular, with hundreds of thoroughbred breeders taking up the offer to see the calibre of stallions on offer ahead of the new season.
In 2017, eight of the top ten stallions in Europe by winners stood in Ireland, and visitors will have a chance to see many of these greats up close, as well as view their leading national hunt counterparts.
This is also an opportunity for racing fans to meet some of their heroes, such as champion racehorse Sea The Stars (IRE), four-time Ascot Gold Cup hero Yeats (IRE) and topclass Breeders Cup hero Kalanisi (IRE), amongst others.
