Kirwan rolls out the Irish classics

NATHAN Carter returns to the live scene in Ireland next weekend with two arena shows — Dublin’s 3Arena on Friday and Belfast’s SSE Arena on Saturday.

and American band, Hayseed Dixie, who perform a mix of wellknown hard rock songs, plus their original compositio­ns.

Hayseed Dixie, who were guests on Nathan’s TV show, are recognised for creating a genre of music called “rockgrass”, fusing bluegrass with rock. Their debut album was called

and featured acoustic hillbilly-styled reworkings of AC/DC songs. The band’s name, incidental­ly, is a linguistic play on AC/DC.

Since 2001, Hayseed Dixie have released DOMINIC Kirwan has been a stalwart of the Irish country music and easy listening scene for nearly 30 years, and he’s never lost his passion for perfoming and recording.

Along with his son, Barry, Dominic now has his own show on Keep It Country TV.

And he has just released a double album, Dominic Kirwan — The Essential Irish Col- 14 themed albums in the rockgrass style, composed of both hillbilly-esque reworkings of classic rock songs and of original material which is mainly satirical in nature. lection, featuring 36 classic Irish songs that include ‘Old Dungarvan Oak’, ‘My Irish Molly’, ‘Galway Bay’, ‘The Grass is Always Greener’ and ‘Ireland’. Dominic also puts his stamp on favourites ‘Noreen Bawn’, ‘The Fields of Athenry’, ‘Danny Boy’ and the ‘Rose of Tralee’.
