-

THERE is always a market for small residential properties with a few acres and outhouses. Among those on offer at the moment is a compact traditional holding at Rodstown Road, Allenstown near Navan in Co Meath. In a transaction handled by Smith Harrington auctioneers, the property is for sale by private treaty with a guide price of €390,000.

Located about 10km from Navan the place is described by John Harrington as “an organic bit of ground” that was certified by IOFGA from 2011 to 2017. The land is fertile and well-minded with secure fencing and its own access from the road.

The house, originally a Land Commission bungalow built in the 1940s, was extended over the years, it now measures 970 sq ft. It underwent substantial refurbishment in 2016 and 2017.

Outbuildings include a pump house, a tool shed an old lofted grinding mill, a cowshed and a boiler house. The farmyard proper includes a two-column haybarn and a range of byres and cowsheds with the remains of a milking unit. There is also a block-built underground effluent storage tank under the hayshed.
