Take a plunge on a lakeside property

- JIM O’BRIEN

THIS seems to be the year for lakeside properties. In the course of the last number of months quite a few farms with lake shoreline have come for sale around the country.

Tuam’s Michael Mannion of Sherry Fitzgerald Mannion is handling the sale of a 48.5ac residential farm on the shores of Lavally Lake, 10km west of Tuam between the N63 and the N83. The place is on the private treaty market with a guide price of €450,000.

All in one block the farm has extensive road frontage on to two roads one of which bisects the land before it reaches the lake. Currently let and in grass the property is in three large fields that could be subdivided. Mr Mannion says it is suitable for any farm enterprise, including tillage.

The farm comes with a traditional style four-bedroom house extending to 935 sq ft and in need of attention. The farm buildings are of the more traditional type and the yard also needs to be brought up to date. Water and electricity are supplied to the property.

According to Mr Mannion the farm is expected to attract good local interest from those who are eager to add to their existing holdings but may be of interest to someone looking to buy an attractive and manageable lakeside holding.
