VOLUNTEER Services Overseas is an internatio­nal developmen­t organisati­on founded in 1958 and enables volunteers to go and work in underdevel­oped countries and tackle poverty in partnershi­p with local people, organisati­ons and local agencies.

Volunteers need to meet certain criteria to qualify: they must have at least three years’ experience in their field, have a degree or the equivalent, be fit and healthy, pass the VSO criminal record check, be able to commit for the full duration of a designated placement, be willing to live on a basic allowance and adapt to new living conditions.
