-

ALL-IRELAND champions from the recent finals at the Strokestown Show, and the opportunity for a breeder to win €3,000 towards the purchase of a bull at the Elite Show and Sale in December, are key attractions for visitors to the Irish Angus stand at the Ploughing.

There will be a draw for a pedigree Irish Angus heifer, and visitors can discuss the breed merits with Irish Angus Cattle Society president John Appelbe, secretary Patsy Keenan and council members.

The Irish Angus Producer Group supported by its processor partners will showcase and explain the opportunities within the Certified Irish Angus Beef Scheme for farmers who wish to commit to the production of Certified Irish Angus Beef.

This commitment will include guaranteed bonus payments for Irish Angus cattle slaughtered in their processing plants.

Charles Smith, general manager of Irish Angus Producer Group, along with senior personnel from ABP Food Group and Kepak Group, will explain the opportunities for farmers by availing of guaranteed bonuses into the future.

The Angus Producer Group has now expanded into Northern Ireland and slaughters cattle in ABP at Lurgan and Newry.

Senior staff from ABP Northern Ireland will be on hand to explain the benefits the Certified Northern Irish Beef Scheme offers Northern Irish suppliers.

Tesco Ireland, who have been retailing Tesco Finest Certified Irish Angus Beef for the past 20 years, will offer any farmer with a valid herd number a chance to win a €3,000 voucher towards the purchase of a bull or heifer at the Irish Angus Elite Show and Sale in Carrick-on-Shannon on December 8.
