Prime Cork fattening land guided at €10,000 plus per acre
A 106AC fattening farm at Doneraile in North Cork is for sale by private treaty with a guide price of €10,000 to €12,000/ac.
The holding is currently farmed by a man whose main enterprise is located in West Cork who wants to concentrate his energies in “the home place”.
Located at Cornahinch on the edge of the village of Doneraile and 9km from Mallow, the property is described by Ernest Forde of selling agents Hodnett Forde as an outstanding farm suitable to any type of farming enterprise.
The lands are all in grass and laid out in one division in a number of large fields currently all in pasture.
There is extensive road frontage giving easy access to all parts of the holding, which comes without entitlements.
A wide range of farm facilities includes modern and dated buildings. The most up-to-date is a split-roof slatted shed on refurbished slats with a feeding passage and accommodation for about 100 adult cattle. The yard is also home to cattle handling facilities including a collecting area and cattle crush.
A single-storey farmhouse, uninhabited for a number of years, and located in the yard could be refurbished or could, by its very presence, assist in obtaining planning permission for a new house.
The land is in one large block, laid out in about nine big fields separated by traditional hedgerow. Neighbouring land is in both grass and corn so it follows that this farm is also suitable for either purpose.
According to Ernest Forde, the property offers a great opportunity to acquire a large block of land suitable to any type of farm enterprise. “It is in great order with a fine selection of buildings; a good farm,” he said.
The auctioneers should expect interest from local farmers wishing to expand an existing holding or farmers from further afield hoping to lay the foundations for a new operation.
