Laurelelm adds Glamour to accolades at Millstreet
TEN-YEAR-OLD Laurelelm Glamour recorded her seventh Championship success when she was crowned Overall Jersey Champion for the Adamstown herd, from Ballinahassig, Co Cork at the 36th National Dairy Show at Millstreet on Saturday.
The accolade for Rickey and John Barrett meant that they have retained the Jersey Championship now for several years and maintained their ongoing overall dominance of the top awards in Jerseys.
The September 2010-born winner of several of the top Jersey Championships over recent years, Laurelelm Glamour produced 6,633kgs at 5.93pc bf and 3.82pc pr was also judged the Jersey Exhibitor Bred Champion and Best Jersey Cow in Milk for the well-known Co Cork Holstein and Jersey herds of over 400 head based at Adamstown, Ballinahassig and Lenenaghmore, Togher which operates jointly for the exhibition of stock in both Holstein and Jersey.
In the Holsteins, Laurelelm Fever Brilliant was Reserve Overall Champion Of The Show, and best Four Year Old Cow in Milk, with Laurelelm Fever Daffodil 6 being judged the highest EBI and Best Udder in the Three Year Old Class; as well as Honourable Mention in the Intermediate Holstein Championship, while the herd showed first and third in the Group of Three Animals and added National Dairy Show 2018 Best Udder, National Dairy Show 2018 Premier Breeder, and National Dairy Show 2018 Premier Exhibitor awards which added up to an incredible overall collection of awards for the Laurelelm and Laurelmore herds.
The Junior Jersey Championship was awarded to Lisnacunna Tequila Veronica’s, exhibited by T & C Lynch, Ballyellen, Ballingarry, Co Limerick, winner of the award for the best Jersey heifer born before 31st December 2017 not in milk and the Reserve Championship went Clonocey Shine Marble 2, exhibited by Seamus Shannon, Clonocey, Belturbet, Co Cavan.
The best Jersey Heifer in Milk was Mullaghlands Pride Starlight, exhibited by Edwin Gaynor, Hillside, Mullaghland, Mullagh, Co Cavan.
