East Cork residential holding for €1.5m

- JIM O’BRIEN

A 117AC residential farm in east Cork is coming to auction with a guide price of €1.5m.

Located between Fermoy and Kildollery, the holding has been let for the past 30 to 40 years and farmed for tillage and dairy by two dif- ferent tenants. Auctioneer Mick Barry of Dick Barry and Sons describes it as a fine farm located in prime farming country.

The property is divided by a country road, leaving the house and 42ac of grassland at one side and 74ac of tillage at the other.

However, the road frontage is not as generous as the size of the lots might suggest, with the 43ac part having most of the frontage.

The land is described by Mr Barry as all good quality ground that is sound and level without any waste. The auctioneer believes it would make a good stan- dalone holding or a valuable addition to an existing enterprise.

The yard is made up of a series of dated but useful sheds. These include an A-roofed four-column hay shed, a double round roofed three-column shed with a double lean-to on one side and a single lean- to on the other. There is also a series of stone sheds in various states of repair and a silage slab. Water is supplied by a mains supply and a private well.
