PAUL Heaton & Jacqui Abbott ( right) and their band will perform Paul’s recently released career-spanning collection The Last King Of Pop at The Summer Series in Trinity College on Friday, July 5.

The album features the best of The Housemartins, The Beautiful South and Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott. One of the UK’s most gifted songwriters, Heaton was prolific and this show includes 25 of the finest songs from his extraordinary music career.

Paul first came to public attention in the early ’80s as frontman of The Housemartins, a group that included Norman ‘Fatboy Slim’ Cook.

In 1988, Heaton formed The Beautiful South, and later released several solo albums, plus three top-five albums with Abbott.

Heaton says he made more money than he could ever spend and has always been uncomfortable with his wealth. Today, he lives in an unimposing semi in Manchester with his wife and three daughters.
