A 79AC residential holding in two blocks has recently come on the market at Gortnaskehy, Araglin.

This Co Cork property is located on the Cork/Tipperary border, 3km from the village of Araglin, 6km from Ballyporeen and 25km from Fermoy town. The property is being offered by private treaty.

The main block comprises c 50ac and includes a four bedroomed single storey traditional farm house and yard. The land is well fenced, has good road frontage and is in permanent pasture.

Block 2 comprises a total of 28ac of which 12ac is in forestry and 16ac is in grassland. The property will be sold in one or more lots.

The land is of good quality, has a natural fall and has good road frontage. There is also a service road to facilitate access. It is well fenced and has a good water supply. In recent years, the holding has been leased as a dry stock farm.

The yard has a number of stone buildings and there is a two-column hay barn and slated shed with cubicles and central feeder.

The dwelling is a traditional single storey farmhouse which includes a kitchen/dining room, sitting room and four bedrooms of which one is in an attic conversion.

The house is centrally heating and has PVC windows throughout and can be offered separately on 2ac to 3ac.

Co Cork based auctioneer, Paul O’Driscoll, who is selling the property is giving a guiding price of €10,000 to €11,000 per acre for the grassland and €5,000 per acre for the forestry plantation which will be ready for harvesting in four years.

He says that the property will appeal to a broad range of people including those wishing to extend their existing holding and those looking for a hobby farm.

“There has been a wide variety of interest,” says Paul. “Land is selling well in the area, averaging €12,000 to €13,000 per acre, and smaller lots are making even higher prices depending on the location.”
