‘Gem’ of a farm on the market for €13,000/ac

- Storm Powell

A TOP-CLASS 57ac farm has come on the market by private treaty with Waterford agent Brian Gleeson Property.

The farm is in the townlands of Carrigroe and Knockaun, close to Dungarvan. The lands are laid out in permanent pasture with easily worked fields, natural boundaries and a main water supply. With its limestone base and free-draining soil, the farm has the potential to be developed into a nursery for thoroughbred horses.

Although non-residential, there is a selection of sheds and farm buildings on the property.

The old dwelling house, located in the farmyard, is used for storage. The old buildings, which are in reasonable condition, were used for calf rearing and milking operations. The newer shed was constructed for straw storage, silage, animal cubicles and machinery housing.

Selling agent Brian Gleeson, who sold adjoining lands in Carriglea a number of years ago, says: “This property is a real gem. It is not often a farm of this calibre and size is available to purchase in such a good and scenic location. The land is currently in grass and offers farmers an opportunity to extend their grazing platform or utilise the farm for grass silage. With its quality soil structure, it may also appeal as a boutique stud farm.”

Mr Gleeson is guiding €750,000 (€13,000 per acre) for the property. “This farm has endless opportunities. Nuggets like this are keenly sought after,” he says. The farm is located 8km from Dungarvan, 54km from Waterford and 80km from Cork, and will be sold in one or more lots.
