Snappy bidding pushes midland farm past its guide price
A RESIDENTIAL farm set on c71ac of prime agricultural land near Moate, Co Westmeath, sold under the hammer recently for €612,000, exceeding its guide by €87,000.
Close to Moate town, the farm is 15 minutes from Tullamore and Athlone, and less than 50 minutes from the M50. It has 140 metres of road frontage.
It includes a traditional farmhouse in good condition and a range of traditional outhouses on a farm fully equipped for livestock farming.
The 71ac of land is laid out in 11 manageable paddocks and is suitable for many farming enterprises.
Francis Kearney of Moate opened the bidding when he accepted a bid of €450,000 and with three bidders in the chase, the auction was over in minutes when the hammer fell at €612,000.
