Emma Watson to take legal action over stolen photos
ACTRESS Emma Watson is taking legal action after photographs of her were stolen.
The pictures of the ‘Beauty And The Beast’ star show her trying on outfits during a fitting. But her spokesman, who could give no details on who stole the images, made it clear they did not show the actress nude.
He said: “Photos from a clothes fitting Emma had with a stylist a couple of years ago have been stolen.
“They are not nude photographs. Lawyers have been instructed and we are not commenting further.”
The news comes days after the 26-year-old was criticised for posing topless in a shoot for ‘Vanity Fair’ magazine.
Images of the actress wearing a bolero jacket with nothing underneath triggered a backlash as some accused her of being hypocritical given her strong feminist stance.
She said at the time: “Feminism is about giving women choice, feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women. It’s about freedom, it’s about liberation, it’s about equality.
“I really don’t know what my tits have to do with it.”
Meanwhile, Watson has said she turned down a role in hit musical ‘La La Land’ for ‘Beauty And The Beast’ because she did not want to “half-arse” her work on the Disney film.
The actress stars in the new live-action version of the 1991 animated film as Belle.
She said it was a big commitment to undertake, one that would need her entire devotion and left her having to choose between the two films.
When asked about not taking a role in ‘La La Land’, Watson said: “With a movie like ‘Beauty And The Beast’ it’s like three months prep, it’s like three or four months shooting, it’s in the UK.
“I had to be there to do that and, as I was saying before, it’s like you can’t half-arse a project like this, you know, you’re in or you’re out.”
Watson also said she previously turned down the chance to star in Disney’s live-action remake of ‘Cinderella’ in 2015 because the character “wasn’t right for me”.
The former ‘Harry Potter’ actress said she wanted to take on the character of Belle because “she’s so fierce, she’s so smart”.
But there was plenty for her to learn in order to be able to portray Belle, including time-consuming horse-riding and singing lessons.
She said: “I was riding three or four times a week, singing four times a week, dancing three or four times a week. I was manic, it was so hectic, but I loved it.”
