€100,000 up for grabs in golf event
CONNACHT RUGBY have unveiled a fabulous golf event to coincide with the team’s Guinness Pro12 clash with provincial rivals Leinster.
Taking place on Good Friday and Easter Saturday – April 14 and 15 – the Pro12 champions have chosen the beautiful Christy O’Connor Jnr Championship Course at Galway Bay Golf Club to host their golfing challenge. The event is open to all amateur golfers with teams of four costing €500.
Ensuring the golf classic stands out from the crowd, there are cash prizes for a hole in one on all of the par three holes, culminating in a €100,000 pay-out for a hole in one on the 13th.
Commenting on the event and the big-money prize, Connacht Rugby’s Business Relationship Manager Barry McCann said excitement is building in and around the province for the event.
“The opportunity to win €100k by swinging a golf club has certainly attracted a lot of attention.
“It will make it a really exciting day out and we have teams joining us from all over the country,” said McCann.
“There are also great team prizes with categories including best pub team, best corporate team and best mixed team.”
A fourball team entry costs €500 which includes refreshments and post-game meal. Five winning teams will win a premium hospitality package to the Connacht v Leinster game on April 15.
Tee times can be secured by contacting Barry McCann on 091 561568 or emailing barry.mccann@ connachtrugby.ie.
There is also the opportunity for businesses to get added exposure at the event by becoming an event partner or a tee sponsor. All money raised will go towards Connacht Rugby’s Grassroots to Green Shirts vision – supporting the development of the game at both a community and professional level.
