Mercury to reach 25C – but bring your brolly to Slane...
THE country is set for a ‘mini-heatwave’, with the mercury to spiral as high as 25C. Following a spell of wet and cold weather, temperatures have been forecast to reach the mid-20s throughout this week.
But revellers preparing to rock at the Guns N’ Roses gig at Slane over the weekend have been warned – keep in tune with the weather, because rain could be on its way.
Met Éireann forecaster Pat Clarke said it is due to get steadily warmer throughout the week, with temperatures set to peak at around 25C on Thursday.

However, he said this would break over the weekend with some showers expected for Saturday during the Slane concert.
“From Tuesday, when the sun is out temperatures will rise to around 20C to 21C. However, it depends on cloud cover and mist,” he said.
“For Slane, I would say that people need to keep in tune with the weather.”
However, it isn’t all bad news for festival goers as despite the chance of getting rained on, temperatures will still reach between 17C and 20C on the day.
For those of you itching to break out the barbecue, Thursday has been forecast as the hottest day of the week.
However, the forecaster pointed out the balmy weather this week is technically not a heat wave, which requires five consecutive days of more than 25C.
While temperatures will be higher than average for this time of year, Mr Clarke warned this would depend on the amount of cloud cover at any given time on a day.
The warmer weather has been moving north from the south and temperatures here will be similar to those forecast for Barcelona for the week.
Sun worshippers are sure to flock to parks and beaches here as it’s set be hotter than parts of Portugal, Fiji, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Bermuda and Malta during Ireland’s ‘mini-heatwave’.
