Nicole Kidman pauses on the red carpet ahead of the screening of ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’, an Irish production from Element Pictures. The film – which also stars Irish actors Colin Farrell and ‘Love/Hate’ cat-killer Barry Keoghan – has premiered to great acclaim at the 70th Cannes Film Festival.

RISING Irish star Barry Keoghan had his moment in the spotlight alongside Nicole Kidman on the red carpet in Cannes.

The actor – who is better known as the cat-killer from ‘Love/Hate’ – was pictured rubbing shoulders with his co-star at the film festival.

The 24-year-old from Dublin was all smiles as he posed for pictures with Ms Kidman at the world premiere of ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’, which was selected for the prestigious Palme d’Or. He has received rave reviews for his role in the horror film, which co-stars Colin Farrell and Alicia Silverstone.

The movie tells the story of a surgeon who adopts a teenager named Martin (Keoghan). But as the teen’s actions grow increasingly sinister, the doctor is forced to make a terrible decision.

The young actor has also been lined up to star in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dunkirk’. He said in a recent interview his background growing up in Dublin’s inner city provided inspiration for darker roles. He and his brother were taken into care when he was five and he was raised by his granny.

“Heroin came into Dublin and it caught every family,” he said. “My mother was one of the unlucky ones. She got caught on it and then passed away.”
