Sex and the politician

-

I N a week where the first shots were fired on who might challenge Michael D for the front door key of Áras an Uachtaráin, a very different contender was flexing her muscles for high office across the Big Pond. Actress Cynthia Nixon is being tipped as a possible candidate for Governor of New York in next year’s election, with support from well-heeled backers. “I think there are a lot of people who would like me to run,” the 51-year-old actress admitted coyly last week. “I think for a variety of reasons, but the number one is education.” Now here’s a campaign I could really plug into – especially as her iconic role in the TV series ‘Sex & The City’ will likely dominate every rally. As the whip-smart lawyer with a deeply cynical view of life and love, her alter ego Miranda Hobbes was an individual as New York as Central Park or a suite at The Plaza. “There are no available men in their 30s in the city, Giuliani had them all removed along with the homeless,” was a beaut in any language. Ultra-rational even when the Barry White lurve music was playing, she also observed: “I’ve never understood sexy lingerie. I mean, what’s the point? The guy’s only going to take it off.” And, as for the actual event itself, how many women would nod their heads in sad agreement with this hidden truth: “Sex – it’s the biggest sham of all. Your whole life all you ever hear is how you’re supposed to save yourself for marriage and how it’s so special. And then you finally do it and you’re like, that’s it? “This is what everyone’s been raving about?” Forget the governor’s mansion, Cynthia –moveon the White House. Enough already with the grey men of the Alt Right, it’s high time the Oval Office got some killer heels and Always Right zingers.
