You have a week to think about offer

RECEIVING an offer of any place in higher education is a huge achievement and one which should be celebrated. Students should take some time to celebrate this achievement with family and friends before considering the next step. Some applicants may receive an offer for both Level 8 and a Level 6 or 7 course and will have to choose between them.

All applicants now have a week to consider the offer(s) they have received. There is no benefit in accepting early so, whatever the initial reaction to the offer may be, take some time to let the news sink in before making any final decisions.

It is especially important to take time if the initial reaction is disappointment. It may be helpful to allow these first feelings to settle before making any decisions. Remember, there are other options, so take time to consider these carefully.

If an applicant decides to accept a CAO offer, the process is the same for Level 8, Level 7, and Level 6. Offers can be accepted online or by post; the online facility is very straightforward and is the recommended way to do so.

To accept an offer online, follow the instructions on screen ensuring that each page is worked through until the end of the process is reached. Then print a receipt. Applicants should ensure they retain a copy of their acceptance.

Once a candidate has accepted an offer, the CAO will issue an acknowledgment by post, which should arrive within three working days, as well as an email acknowledgement if the candidate has supplied an email address.

If an offer is not accepted by 5.15pm next Monday, August 28, the CAO will presume the applicant has decided not to accept the offer and the place will be passed on to another candidate during the second round of offers.
