Gayle in Windies squad for Belfast
CHRIS GAYLE, the self-styled ‘Universe Boss’ of white-ball cricket, has been named in the 15-man West Indies squad for the one-day international against Ireland in Belfast on September 13, along with fellow rebel Marlon Samuels.
Gayle, a 37-year-old Jamaican who has courted controversy with sexist remarks to female reporters and a rapstar lifestyle, has not played for the West Indies since the 2015 World Cup.
The big-hitting opener, whose autobiography is titled ‘Six Machine’, has been involved in a long-running dispute with the West Indies cricket board, as has Samuels who is also better known recently for his exploits in T20 leagues around the world, including a spat with Shane Warne in Australia’s Big Bash.
The Caribbean side will play an ODI series against England following the Stormont game.
