Flying car; food on the hoof; where are the ladies?

-

IF we’re to believe Slovakia’s Aeromobil, the flying car

(above) will be here in 2021. Using electric drive, with power provided by a fourcylinder petrol engine, the top speed on the road is a mere 160km/h.

In three minutes, the carbon fibre car converts into a single prop aeroplane that can take off in around 500m.

In the air, top speed is much greater and a range of almost 1,000km is claimed.

It has been designed to appeal to super car owners and flight enthusiasts.

The latest prototype has only flown virtually, although earlier versions have been extensively tested.

Don’t worry, if anything goes wrong it comes with a parachute.

l Despite all the talk about making cleaner cars to protect our health, you’d be forgiven for thinking we care little enough about our bodies judging by some of the ‘food’ people were munching at the Frankfurt Show.

I have to say some of it looks lovely but my goodness is it salty and starchy. And everyone seems to be washing it down with sweet soft drinks. I suppose it goes with the pressurised territory of press day, but it makes you wonder if we take our health seriously.

l How come there were so few women at Frankfurt? There was one sitting beside me (God love her), but no one else in the press room alcove was female. Makes you think too doesn’t it?
