McGinley unveils Golf Academy at Mount Juliet
RYDER Cup-winning captain Paul McGinley hit the first ball at the Paul McGinley Golf Academy at Mount Juliet Estate on Friday.
Created by Paul McGinley Design, the 15-acre practice area has been redesigned with the addition of a specific coaching and fitting centre.
Facilities also include two putting greens and a short game area while the Academy will offer the most advanced teaching software, the Trackman 4e.
All instruction will be based around McGinley’s playing philosophy, and the instructors chosen are selected and trained by the McGinley team.
A new swing room is under development, offering custom fitting of leading brands such as TaylorMade, Callaway and Vega.
The initiative represents a €4.5 million investment by Tetrarch Capital, who own Mount Juliet Estate.
“Mount Juliet Estate has long been a top golfing destination on the world stage of golf,” McGinley said. “I am delighted to be partnering with the owners, Tetrarch Capital, to develop the Paul McGinley Golf Academy.
“With the magnificent Jack Nicklaus Signature Course on the Estate, my newly designed range, sculpted to provide every shot in the golf bag, gives a fantastic opportunity for golfers to develop their skills at the Academy or complete quality practice before going out to play.”
Mount Juliet’s Director of Golf, Matt Sandercock, said: “Our Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course is consistently recognised as one of Ireland’s finest parkland courses and working with Paul, one of Ireland’s most renowned golfers, is a perfect fit.
“We know he will bring a huge amount to Mount Juliet and we are really pleased to offer these additional amenities to our club members and all visiting golfers.”
