PV panels will spark buyers’ interest

Moss Brook, Prosperous, Co Kildare

-

IN 1780, while on sick leave from the military arm of the East India Company, Sir Robert Brooke set up a cotton mill on his lands in north Kildare. He rather optimistically called the new industrial village Prosperous, though within six years the mill had failed, despite Brooke spending all his own money, his wife’s money and grants he received from Grattan’s parliament.

Prosperous, located some 40km from Dublin, went into decline in the 19th century as a result but subsequently recovered. A decade ago, a developer sold homes in the village called Moss Brook. Construction resumed when the property market recovered from the crash and there are now 10 new four-bed semi-detached homes going on sale at Moss Brook this weekend.

Each of the homes, built by Ardain Developments, measure 1,280 sq ft. Prices start at €310,000 and go up to €355,000 for the fully fitted showhouse. On the ground floor, there is a separate living room up front, a guest lavatory, and an L-shaped kitchen/diner.

The first floor is home to a family bathroom and four bedrooms, one of which is en suite. All but one of the bedrooms have fitted wardrobes.

The A3-rated houses have PV panels on the roof to generate electricity and come with natural gas central heating. Commuters who buy at Moss Brook can use a frequent daily bus service to Dublin city, access the M4 and M7 motorways, or take the Arrow rail link at Sallins.

Viewings of the showhouse will be held tomorrow and Sunday, from 12pm to 2pm. Enquiries to: Sherry FitzGerald Reilly (045) 868412
