Victory pushes Racing into second

RACING 92 are up to second in the Top 14 standings after their three-try victory away to Brive last weekend.

Vilaimu Afatia, Henry Chavancy and Verimi Vakatawa all crossed for tries in their 25-6 win, which was secured despite yellow cards for Albert VuliVuli and Brice Dulin in each half.

Elsewhere in the French top flight, Castres became the latest side to fall to the undefeated Montpellier, but the Mediterranean side left it late to take victory when Nemani Nadolo scored at the death and former Ulster star Ruan Pienaar slotted the conversion to wrap up a 22-17 win.

A try from Julien Dumora had helped Castres into an 11-9 interval lead, but they were unable to claim a second win of the season and will hope for some success on the road tomorrow when they take on Pau.

In the English Premiership, Leicester Tigers remain winless after two rounds following their 24-11 defeat to Northampton Saints. Tigers fell behind early on thanks to Luther Burrell’s try, while a second from Dylan Hartley stretched Saints’ lead. The introduction of ex-Leinster back-row Dominic Ryan added some steel to the Tigers display, but a last-minute try from Jonny May was just consolation for the Midlanders.
