ZACH TUOHY is just one win away from becoming the third Irishman to play in an AFL Grand Final after the Geelong Cats shocked the Sydney Swans to book a place in the Preliminary Final, which is effectively the semi-final stage.
The Laois native, who would join Jim Stynes and Tadhg Kennelly in an elite Irish club with another victory, had a solid game in the Geelong defence, picking up 25 disposals in the 98-39 success at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Geelong will now face Adelaide Crows next Friday with a spot in the September 30 decider on the line.
Kerry youngster Mark O’Connor is also at the Cats but hasn’t made the first team since May.
