DO THE DOUBLE

-

GAELIC FOOTBALL

Dublin are short at 2/5, but deserve to be warm favourites to beat Mayo in the All-Ireland final tomorrow. It’s become a bit of a cliché but Jim Gavin (right) could almost field a second top-class side such is the strength of the bench. Many Dubs wouldn’t begrudge a win for Mayo at this stage, but the way the boys in blue destroyed Tyrone in the semifinal makes that seem quite unlikely.

RACING

I backed Hey Gaman when he won a Listed race at Newbury last time, and James Tate’s colt can do me another good turn in the Group Two Howcroft Industrial Supplies Champagne Stakes at Doncaster (3.0), around 11/2. A front-runner, the son of New Approach loves a bit of cut in the ground so today’s conditions look ideal

Last week’s double was successful at an overall price of 100/30
