Sports writers short-listed for awards

Two Irish Independent sports writers are in the running for awards in the 2017 NewsBrands Ireland Journalism Awards.

Vincent Hogan has been nominated for the Sports Writer of the Year award while Martin Breheny is short-listed for the Sports Story of the Year award for his explosive interview with former Mayo football managers, Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly. Hogan won the Sports Story of the Year award last year. The winners in all categories – news and sport – will be announced on November 2.
