Shelbourne completes grand refurbishment as revenues rise

-

The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin has completed the last phase in a multi-million euro façade and guest room refurbishment project that had been in progress since 2015.

The work was led by internationally renowned designer Guy Oliver, principal designer and owner of Oliver Laws who previously worked on refurbishments at 10 Downing Street in London.

It comes as accounts show operating profits at Torriam Hotel Operating Company, which operates the hotel, increased marginally to €47,200 last year. Revenues rose more sharply, up €1.3m to €14.68m and staff numbers were 540.

Speaking about the investment programme, Yvonne Donohue, director of sales and marketing, said “For the past 193 years The Shelbourne Hotel has always reflected what was happening in the Dublin of its day. The hotel owners are delighted to unveil the last phase in the multi-million euro façade and guest room refurbishment project with a makeover worthy of this historic hotel, and look forward to the remaining enhancements planned for this year and next.

“As the scene both of significant historical events and the backdrop to important social and family occasions for generation after generation of guests over almost two centuries, it is important to uphold tradition by ensuring that Dublin’s Grande Dame is kept looking her very best.”
