Blackrock ladies dine out in style

-

THERE was a buzz of excitement last Friday afternoon in Stradbrook as 180 ladies arrived at Blackrock College RFC for the Ladies Lunch event.

We can guarantee there were absolutely no high tackles, only high heels, at this glamorous fundraiser for the club.

Guests were greeted with a champagne reception, as musician Jamie Duff entertained on the guitar.

A fashion show, by Irish wholesaler Myles Cunningham with D.E.C.K by Decollage, was an event highlight, showcasing gorgeous clothing, perfectly appropriate for those autumn afternoons spent on the sidelines of the rugby pitch.

Six lucky guests went home with new outfits, while several others scored additional D.E.C.K fashions. Local boutiques stock a range of the D.E.C.K label, including Sole Woman Glasthule, Fran and Jane Blackrock, and Meadows and Byrne Dún Laoghaire.

Two especially glamorous women received top acknowledgement as they were chosen for their ensembles. Sally Cooke and Mar Cabre both went home with well-deserved best dressed honours.

This fundraiser saw a fantastic turn-out and will hopefully become an annual event. Organiser and club vice-president Pappy Burke said: “The lunch was greatly attended with many familiar faces returning to Stradbrook for an enjoyable afternoon benefiting the continued development of the club”.
