THE tall homes that comprise Albany in Killiney may be period in style but their eco-credentials are fully 21st century, with an A3 BER making them cheaper to run than older piles in the affluent coastal suburb that became popular in the 1990s among rock stars seeking refuge from the paparazzi.

The Cairn Homes scheme is set amid the grounds of Albany House, a listed Victorian villa. The scheme is accessed from a new entrance at Killiney Hill Road and there is separate access to the Shanganagh Road to Albany House, which has been restored and reconfigured to create new semi-detached homes.

The new-builds surrounding Albany House originally launched in May 2016, and there are seven still available, as well as a refurbished three-bed period house on the site that’s selling for €900,000.

Four of the new homes on the market at Albany are four-bed semi-detached properties priced from €895,000. Each has 2,131 sq ft of living space spread out over three floors.

There are also three five-bed detached homes, priced from €1.075m, that are extra tall — there’s a fourth floor on top that houses a study and a master ensuite with walk-in wardrobes.
