Disko could get a turn in Durkan Chase, says Meade

NOEL MEADE is considering running Disko in the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown.

The impressive grey returned to action with an all-the-way win at Down Royal over two and a half miles and has now been entered in the King George at Kempton on St Stephen’s Day.

Meade said: “Disko has come out of his race in the north very well and will probably run again before Christmas. He has an entry in the Durkan.”

Stablemate Road To Respect is unlikely to run before the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown on December 28. The six-year-old chestnut made an impressive seasonal debut at Punchestown before coming off second best in a tussle with Outlander for the Champion Chase at Down Royal.

Meanwhile, Shane Shortall should be back in the saddle next weekend despite having a nasty-looking fall at Navan.

Shortall suffered a cut head and nose, together with mild concussion, when he was kicked following his tumble from Hows Patsy at the fourth-last flight when holding a narrow lead in a two-mile handicap hurdle.

Conor Brassil is facing up to three months on the sidelines after breaking a leg in a fall at Fairyhouse last Tuesday.

Sam Twiston-Davies is hoping to be back in action at Newbury next month after suffering a broken elbow in a fall at Sandown.
