ANT TO MAKE IT SIX FROM SIX IN THE OAKS

- Michael Fortune

DROOPYS ANT has made a phenomenal start to her racing career and she will be the main attraction at Shelbourne this evening when she contests the second semi-final of the Gain Dog Nutrition Christmas Oaks.

Trained by John Linehan for Sean Dunphy, Droopys Ant brings an unbeaten five-from-five record into the race but this is clearly the toughest test she has faced thus far.

Liam Dowling’s Coolavanny Pet has been mixing with the best all season and is still running at the top of her game.

She is probably the main rival to the selection but Trinity Sadara and Droopys Lagoon also have very strong claims.

But if Droopys Ant (9.57) can make one of her regular flying starts she will clear the field to the corner and go on to victory. Coolavanny Pet is the obvious choice for the forecast.

The other semi is a very open affair but Barney Mooney’s Mrs

Chippy (9.42) will love the striped jacket and is given the nod to lead home Tibet and Canyar.

Down at Curraheen Park it will be festive time with the Friends of Cork Greyhounds hosting a Family Night of Fun.

Top race will be the final of the Greyhound & Petworld Luxury Transport Irish Grand National and John Linehan’s

Broadstrand Viny can lead all the way.
