Alannah hot-steps into ‘Dancing with the Stars’ after Aoife fractures her toe
MODEL Alannah Beirne will replace Aoife Walsh on the upcoming series of ‘Dancing With The Stars’.
Former Miss Ireland Aoife was forced to bow out of the competition after fracturing her toe before rehearsals had begun.
‘Britain’s Next Top Model’ contestant Alannah – the daughter of 1983 Rose of Tralee Brenda Hyland Beirne – said she cannot wait to put her best foot forward.
“I’m so thrilled to be joining the ‘Dancing With The Stars’ family – Christmas has really come early this year,” she said. “I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in now and meeting the rest of the participants. And I also want to wish Aoife a speedy recovery.”
She will be competing alongside the likes of RTÉ presenter Marty Morrissey, ‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’ coach Anna Geary and Conor McGregor’s sister Erin.
Marty has emerged as an early contender to win the series, with bookmakers BoyleSports giving the host 3/1 odds of taking home the Glitterball Trophy.
Hairdresser Erin McGregor is hoping the show will help her conquer her fear of what other people think of her.
Professional dancer Karen Byrne, who won over viewers when she danced with Des Cahill on the first series, believes Erin will be one to watch and will probably have a competitive streak like her brother.
Aoife said she was “devastated” to have to leave the programme, but wished her fellow contestants well.
“I’ll be watching and cheering them on every week. I’m looking forward to getting better and back on both feet again soon.”
The show will air on January 7.
