Conway excited by testinnewUArena

MUNSTER and Ireland back Andrew Conway says he is excited at the prospect of playing at Racing

92’s new U Arena.

Racing take on Munster at the

32,000-capacity ground this Sunday in a key Champions Cup clash, and if selected Conway is eager to get a run out at the stadium.

His former Munster team-mate Donnacha Ryan is likely to feature at some stage, while other ex-Munster players Casey Laulala and Ronan O’Gara have played a big role in Racing’s recent successes. Conway says he is keen for another European outing.

“I have to get selected first and hopefully that goes my way and I get over there,” said Conway.

“I have seen Casey put a few things online and it (U Arena) just looks ridiculous. I saw ROG say a few bits and pieces that it’s just the best he has ever seen.”

Conway has been one of Munster’s form players and has scored five tries in his 10 starts so far this season – he also scored for Ireland against South Africa in November.

One of Conway’s Munster tries arrived against Racing 92 when the teams met at Thomond Park in October, a game which Munster won 14-7, and he thinks the team can kick on to a strong finish to their Champions Cup after a return to winning ways against Connacht last weekend.

“It was a disappointing few weeks over Christmas losing to guys you play against a lot and guys you are in and out of Ireland camp which is tough.

“We had a good second half against Leinster and a good first half in Ulster but we probably mixed the good with the bad again against Connacht, but it was more in patches.

“We will change focus now, we had a massive focus for those three games and two of them didn’t go our way, one of them did, but it’s still not perfect. But it is a good platform to head into Europe with.”
