250 pupils attend blitz at Balbriggan RC

-

WITH Christmas coming close everyone was in high spirits as over 200 boys and girls converged on Balbriggan RFC for their Primary School tag rugby blitz.

The schools involved had just completed a Play Rugby programme where many had not experienced the game before but were really looking forward to playing in the pre-Christmas blitz. During the Play Rugby programme pupils from Bracken Educate Together, St Teresa National School, Stamullen National School and St George’s National School had learnt all the skills necessary to play the game.

It was a sunny but cold day but it didn’t matter as everyone had smiles on their faces playing the game during the 6th class blitz which was played in great spirit with all the children learning new skills.

CCRO Glenn Predy said: “Some of the players playing today had amazing skills and really seemed to enjoy themselves. They would be great addition to the club; hopefully they will think about coming down to Balbriggan.”

A massive thank you must go to all the referees, teachers and principals for their help on the day and during the programme. And also to Balbriggan RC for allowing the use of their facilities.

If any other schools in the Balbriggan area would like to participate in similar programmes, please contact Glenn Predy on 086 3994839 or email balbrigganCCRO@ leinsterrugby.ie
