O ne-woman grey army adds splash of colour to ‘Crayola brights’ theme

- Bairbre Power

AGE is irrelevant when you love fashion.

Just ask 73-year-old model and mum-of-three Lorna Britton, who pretty much stole the show at Arnotts’ spring summer 2018 catwalk presentation which reverberated with colour and their key trend of ‘Crayola brights’.

Last season, it was 50-something Olivia Treacy who wowed at Arnotts’ autumn winter show and Lorna took over the baton yesterday, a one-woman grey army who looked equally good in a jersey draped InWear jumpsuit (€150) to a colour pop ensemble.

Collar flipped up on her Hobbs Kelly green jacket (€205), she wore it with Luisa Cerano turquoise top (€270) and tailored red trousers (€270).

Switching it up, Lorna looked equally chic in a glamorous Caroline Kilkenny blush jumpsuit (€297), ideal for a mum-of-the-bride or grandmother-ofthe-bride who likes to think outside the box and not wear what people expect a woman of their age to wear.

A former air hostess who took up modelling at 60, Lorna has style chutzpah and sharp silver hair cut, rather like Elon Musk’s mother Maye who, at 69, is the queen of the New York catwalk scene.

With trench coats all the rage this season, Lorna wore a three-quarter length Ralph Lauren trench (€249) with InWear white cigarette end trousers (€90).

There was a major outbreak of coat crush when Thalia Heffernan opened the show in an orange embellished coat (€490) over an orange jumpsuit (€325), by Tara Jarmon. Monochrome dressing was far from boring with Marella’s Art 365 satin crepe jumpsuit with contrasting cream inset (€260) and blouson jacket (€200).

New brands on the Arnotts fashion floor this season include Michael Michael Kors and the keenly priced label Thought.
