G-Mac’s charity effort now Notorious

-

GRAEME McDowell will host the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at some stage between 2020 and 2023 and there’s no doubt he will use the opportunity to raise millions more for charity via the G-Mac Foundation.

Last week, the Portrush man had help from MMA superstar Conor McGregor at the Best of Ireland Gala Dinner in New York, where more than $800,000 was pledged for research and innovation programmes that will help patients and parents who face life-long and sometimes life-threatening illnesses.

The Children’s Medical Research Foundation (CMRF) at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin and the

National Children’s Research Centre based at Crumlin are among the beneficiaries of his efforts.

“Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin in Ireland is very close to my heart,” McGregor said at the event.

“I was there twice in my life, once when I stood on a nail as an eight-year-old kid and again last year. Like I said, I was born and raised in Crumlin and it is amazing what you are achieving from this event.” McDowell was featured in the latest Men’s Journal magazine recently and named his favourite courses that anyone can play.

Give yourself a slap on the back if you guessed he’d pick Royal Portrush, Waterville Golf Links, Bethpage Black, Valderrama and Harbour Town.
