Three units remain at upmarket scheme

BROADLANDS, an upmarket development being built directly across the road from Killiney Golf Club, may have been in fruition for more than a decade, but it’s taken just five months for the scheme to almost sell out, despite commanding starting price-tags of €635,000.

In 2006, O’Flynn Construction, one of the country’s biggest developers, spent €22m on buying Broadlands, a vast pile with tennis courts on Ballinclea Road.

Planning permission to build a residential scheme on the site was denied in the spring of 2008, just as the property market was set to implode. O’Flynn returned to property development in 2014.

Broadlands, which backs on to Killiney’s Cluny Park, was eventually launched last September. Of the 28 family homes that make up the scheme, just three are still for sale. Of the remaining units, one is a three-storey property from the type A range that has 2,225 sq ft of accommodation; it can be utilised as a four or fivebed home and is priced from

€870,000. The other two are from the type C range, which is a three-bed, three-storey style measuring 1,730 sq ft.

The former property is priced from €720,000, while the latter costs €785,000 because it is a fully furnished home decorated by Jennifer Grace of The Good Room.

The A2-rated homes have extra-high ceilings to the ground and first floors, hand-painted kitchens and bedroom wardrobes from Cawley’s Furniture, and Villeroy & Boch sanitary ware in the bathrooms.
