Grant to face Asia-Pacific in Patsy Hankins Trophy

-

LISBURN’S Paula Grant has been selected to represent Europe against Asia-Pacific in the Patsy Hankins Trophy at Doha Golf Club in Qatar from March 8-10

Inaugurated in 2016, it is a biennial match between elite female amateur golfers from Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

The 12-woman teams face each other in three days of match play in a format similar to the Solheim Cup, with five four-ball matches and five foursomes matches on days one and two, and 12 singles matches on the final day.

The reigning Irish Women’s Close champion, Grant’s selection comes on the heels of consistent start to 2018.

A second place finish at the South American Amateur in Argentina followed by a top 15 at the Portuguese International Amateur suggests that the Lisburn native is determined to continue her fine form from 2017.

Not only did she win the Irish Women’s Close Championship title at Mullingar Golf Club, she was also leading qualifier at the British Ladies Open Amateur title at Pyle and Kenfig, claiming the Doris Chambers Trophy.

European Team: Gudrun Bjorgvinsdottir (Isl), Zhen Bontan (Ned), Bianca Fabrizio (Ita), Blanca Fernandez Garcia-Poggio (Esp), Annabell Fuller (Eng), Paula Grant (Irl), Frida Kinhult (Swe), Amanda Linner (Swe), Clarisse Louis (Bel), Puk Lyng Thomsen (Den), Elena Moosmann (Sui), Isobel Wardle (Eng).
