HMS CAROLINE

Along with visiting the Titanic Belfast, don’t miss the HMS Caroline Experience, in the heart of Titanic Quarter. The historic spaces on HMS Caroline have been recreated to look as they did in 1916. This was the year that HMS Caroline was part of one of the largest naval battles in history, the Battle of Jutland. www.hmscaroline.co.uk

ULSTER MUSEUM

If you’re not a huge fan of history, don’t let the word ‘museum’ frighten you. I took my mother, Rita, to the Ulster Museum and even though she had no initial interest, she loved it! Get face-to-face with dinosaurs, see art and artefacts, and browse through photographs of old-time Belfast. For ‘Game of Thrones’ lovers, Ulster Museum is also home to an incredible 77-metre-long hand-woven tapestry, which depicts the scenes from season one to seven. Plus, it’s all completely free! www.nmni.com

THE POCKET

I was really impressed with this café near the Ulster Museum, which has pages from books such as ‘Alice in Wonderland’ decorating the walls. I had avocado with lime, seeds and watercress on toasted sourdough and a latte for less than £10. www.thepocket.coffee

BELFAST CITY HALL

The civic building of Belfast’s City Council includes a new free exhibition which offers a journey from the city’s past to present. Explore the original architecture of the City Hall and discover its history. www.belfastcity.gov.uk

THE MAC BELFAST

From exhibitions to theatre performances, the MAC is a cultural hub and a perfect way to spend an evening in Belfast. www.themaclive.com
