Snow days help to restore a sense of neighbourly togetherness

-

■ Allow me to express my sincere thanks to all the wonderful people who did so much to assist the citizens of this country during our spell of severe bad weather. I refer to ambulance and fire brigade staff, hospital workers, shop workers and those who made the effort so that we had enough to eat. To all, I say thank you.

On Saturday, most people had to walk to the nearest shop because of the condition of the roads in nearly all of the housing estates.

It meant meeting neighbours that we would otherwise only see from the inside of a car or a bus.

Saturday was like old times, stopping to talk and laugh off the poor weather conditions.

And it was great to see happy kids building snowmen, oblivious to the cold.

Thanks once again to all who helped.
