STUART’S SON GOES TO SCOTS

-

INDIA is not where we might have expected Robbie Keane to end up and some will be surprised that Stuart Lancaster’s son Dan is expected to play for Scotland’s U-18s next weekend.

However, he’s actually following in his dad’s rugby footsteps.

The former England and current Leinster coach also wore the thistle in his youth, representing Scotland briefly at U-19 level and also playing for the Scottish Students.

He may have grown up on a farm near Penrith, near the Lake District, but his mother Ann is from Dumfries and when he moved to Yorkshire to university Lancaster Snr played for the Scottish Exiles.

In those amateur days, his teaching career ultimately held back his rugby career and probably prevented him from playing senior for Scotland.
